Film Scans

I took my Holga out a few weeks ago and took some shots around Hagley Park, having developed them in my kitchen I finally got around to scanning them in today. Always interesting and a little random but fun to play with the imperfections and look and feel of real film once in a while.

Light or Dark

I have only had a little time to play with the images from last night but they really fall into two styles; bright and well lit and much darker and, to me, more interesting light. I do find myself drawn to more moody lighting. Thanks to Chontelle for having fun getting dressed up in Art Deco style!

Manual Flash

I have been very busy this week but I had fun tonight playing with manual flash. I have mostly used TTL flash with my portraits so this was something new for me, fortunately it turned out fairly well I think. Lots of images to work through, thanks to the lovely model Chontelle De la Croix, makeup by the brilliant Olympia Geary and Jasmine Clark styling – quite a crew 🙂

Making the Best Of It

I went for a walk in the mountains this morning (called a tramp here in New Zealand), needless to say I took my camera. The weather however was lovely, pleasantly warm, blue skies, perfect for a walk and awful for photographs! I took a few snapshots just since I was there but struggled to make anything useful out of them, a bit of work with textures and monochrome however did help I think. At the very least I got some more Photoshop practice 🙂
