A holiday today and sunshine – something we have been short of over Christmas. A friend and I took a cycle from Little River to Akaroa carrying my new Canon G15 to see what I could see. A great cycle, about 72km in total, around 2900m climbing and about the same going down very fast. I am still struggling to work with the G15, I treat it too much like my DSLR and that won’t work, but as with the DSLR practise will make perfect or at least better.
The Pahutikawa trees were in bloom, often called Christmas Trees here as they bloom around Christmas.
A very quick trip to Kaiapoi Lakes this evening, not very inspired right now but working on it. Pretty clouds and colours at least.
With doing more running and mountain biking I have been looking to get a smaller, lighter camera to carry with me. After much procrastination I finally bought a Canon PowerShot G15. I haven’t really had a chance to play with it properly but so far it seems to be suitable for what I want. It does feel very strange compared to my DSLR though and I have a lot to learn to be able to use it well. I will be interested to see the result once I get it out on a trip but for now I have a cat picture to share 🙂
Merry Christmas from New Zealand, my kids and their Mum were kept busy with this year’s community lunch; a great event for the poor or lonely in the area on Christmas Day. Thanks to everyone involved for all the hard work making it happen this year. This is the room set up and ready to go.
Not my best work with a camera, or even in the kitchen but my pavlova is ready for Christmas dinner tomorrow. The presents are under the tree and the kids are in bed. Christmas is less than two hours away here and Santa is on the way. A very Merry Christmas to everyone when it arrives.
In between cycling, having punctures and running back pushing my bike I stopped in a few places to take some images with my old Nikon D50.
A trip to Kairaki Beach tonight, not the most spectacular sunset but nice to get for a little while.
