Not doing much processing on my photos just now, I see to have a bit of a backlog. A couple of shots from my trip to Castle Hill though.
I was driving home tonight and there were some interesting clouds, a rainbow and a little rain. I decided to stop at the Waimakariri River on the way home just for fun, not with any particular expectation. I’m glad I did, sometimes just stopping and taking some images for fun can produce some interesting results.
I took a trip to Kairaki Beach this evening more or less to avoid the washing up – and the clouds looked interesting. I took a bunch of images most of which I have not worked through. Here are three very different shots form this evening. It was actually quite windy and the longer exposures some of the branches were moving in the wind.
This is HDR, all brilliance and colour, and the sunset was.
A much more peaceful shot taken just after the sun set.
And a minimalist attempt.
The rain last night forced me to think about the sort of images that might work as a normal sunset style pretty postcard image wasn’t really an option. I took a few fairly straightforward images.
But change the processing, by adding a texture I felt gave a better feel to the image.
Long exposures despite the rain might have worked but composition was hard.
A longer exposure combined with motion did give some interesting and varied results.
